Before Moving Day: Get Organised Early

The groundwork you put in before moving day is what makes everything else easier. Don’t leave it all to the last minute.

Tell Us Everything We Need to Know

The more information your removals team has in advance, the better prepared they’ll be. Let us know about all items that need moving — including anything delicate, oversized, or unusual. Antiques, large mirrors, musical instruments, and specialist equipment all require extra care and planning, so the earlier we know, the better.

Check Access at Both Properties

Access issues are one of the most common causes of delays on moving day. Before the move, check both your current and new property for potential obstacles: parking availability, double yellow lines, narrow driveways, low ceilings, or tight stairwells. If you live in a flat, find out whether there’s a lift and whether it can accommodate large furniture.
If you need a parking permit or temporary road clearance, contact your local council well in advance – these can take time to arrange.

Let Your Neighbours Know

It’s worth giving your neighbours a heads-up, particularly if the removal van will be blocking access or taking up shared parking. A quick knock on the door goes a long way in keeping things friendly and avoiding any friction on the day.

Prepare Your Appliances in Advance

White goods like washing machines, dishwashers, and fridges need to be prepared before they can be safely moved. Washing machines need to be drained and the drum secured; fridges and freezers should be defrosted and emptied. Leave enough time for this — a fridge that hasn’t been defrosted properly can cause problems on the day.

Dismantle Furniture Where Needed

Large furniture – wardrobes, bed frames, dining tables – often needs to be dismantled before it can be moved safely. If you’ve arranged for our team to handle this, we’ll take care of it. If not, make sure it’s done in advance so nothing holds up the loading process.

Stay Organised to Save Time and Money

Time is money on moving day, quite literally. The more organised your home is before our team arrives, the quicker the loading process will be — and that can make a real difference to the overall cost of your move. Have everything packed, labelled, and ready to go.
